FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Regarding Permanent Makeup

WHAT IS PERMANENT COSMETIC MAKEUP?

Permanent cosmetics, also referred to as micropigmentation / cosmetic tattooing, is a procedure whereby completely natural pigments are in planted beneath the epidermis (top layer of skin)

WHO WOULD BENEFIT / WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF PERMANENT MAKEUP?

Saves time getting ready each day, if you are allergic to cosmetics, if you have trouble seeing to apply your cosmetics, arthritic hands, wanting makeup that won’t smudge, wear off, or sweat off; not having very prominent brows or eyelashes and wanting them enhanced, and you’ll wake up looking like you’re already wearing makeup.

DOES THE PROCEDURE HURT?

This may vary according to each individual’s pain tolerance; however, topical anesthetics are used to numb the area and minimize discomfort. Most of my clients describe a tickling and vibration sensation at the beginning of the procedure, but because of the continual use of the topical numbing agent they feel nearly nothing as the procedure goes on.

HOW LONG DOES THE PROCEDURE TAKE?

Time may vary according to individual sensitivity, hydration, density, elasticity, and overall condition of the skin as well as which service is being done. Allowing time for antiseptic to take effect, implanting the pigment, and going over after care with the client can all contribute to how much time the procedure takes. An average time for individual visit is as follows: one and a half to three hours for most first time visits and one hour to one and a half hours for follow up appointment.

HOW MANY APPOINTMENTS ARE NECESSARY TO ACHIEVE THE LOOK I WANT?

Typically, 1 to 3 total visits. 4 to 6 weeks after the individual application, a follow up visit may be required to perfect the service. There is no additional charge for the touch-up appointment and if your goals were met on the first appointment, the follow up appointments can be cancelled. However, follow up appointments need to be done at least in 12 weeks or prior to not be charged.

HOW LONG WILL PERMANENT MAKEUP LAST?

The affects of sun, swimming, facial skin care chemicals, as well as your skins natural changes and more can affect the long-term goals of permanent makeup. As an average it can last 2 to 3 years or longer. Semi-permanent makeup, however, has a shorter span of time and depending on service can last 4 to 6 months or 10 to 12 months or longer.

WHAT IS INVOLVED DURING RECOVERY?

In some cases, you can resume your normal activity immediately after procedure or by the next day. However, you will want to limit sun exposure, sweating, and water around the area for a few days. Complete healing takes 14 to 20 days while the pigmentation reaches its full color. You will take home after care paperwork with instructions to follow to help you through your healing process. Also, depending on the service you will be sent home with a protective ointment that will be applied for the next 5 to 7 days. [LIPS - If you suffer from Herpes or cold sore blisters, I recommend getting a prescription from your doctor five days before procedure. Otherwise, you could break out in blisters all over your lips.]

PLEASE CANCEL 48 HOURS PRIOR TO YOUR APPOINTMENT.

If not, half of your deposit will not be refunded. If you reschedule your appointment as long as it is within the 48 hours your deposit will still go toward that appointment. Please cancel, however, if you’re sick or have had any stomach flu / fever in the last 24 hours.
